Security boss calls for end to net anonymity
The owner of the largest anti-virus company in the eastern hemisphere thinks that “[e]veryone should and must have an identification, or internet passport” and that he’d “[…] like to change the design of the internet by introducing regulation - internet passports, internet police and international agreement - about following internet standards”’.
Given the power an antivirus system is given over the computer it’s being installed on, this is a real threat to anonymity systems that I hadn’t considered before.
As being said on the Tor mailing list, what if Kaspersky labels Tor a trojan or virus? It will disappear from all machines running Kaspersky antivirus systems, that’s what would happen.
